Articulate your mission: Leadership by Arjo Klamer
As a leader, you need a mission and you need to be aware of it. Whether you have to guide your family or your employees, ask yourself and ask them: what is it good for? Also: What are you contributing to? And make sure to articulate the answer in a way that warms their hearts.
“What are you contributing to?”
I’ve asked this question to all kinds of people. When I ask lawyers or bankers their first answer is usually: ‘To make money’. When I ask them what that is good for, they answer: ‘To make more money’. But that’s not an answer. Money is not a goal in itself, you use money to spend it on things. So what are you spending it on? That’s what it’s good for.
